THIS WEEK’S GOLD COAST AND TWEED ESTUARY FISHING REPORT AND NEWS

TWEED RIVER by Smithy

What a great week of fishing with light winds and more importantly no rain which has been a long time coming so far this year. The good conditions were matched with some absolutely fantastic fishing with the deep holes in the river producing big numbers of fish.

The Samaki vibelicous lures were outstanding with the pearl shrimp, phantom craw and chartreuse ginger squid colours proving the stand out colours. The fish caught were a heap of flatties as well as the ever present bream that are in plaque proportions.

The amazing run of small school jew were once again present this week and one of my regular clients Noel capped the week of today with 3 winter mangrove jacks with 2 of the jacks being crackers which also crunched the Samaki vibes. Well thats it  from me I think I might head off to the fridge and crack a couple of cold beers to cap of a fun week of fishing.

Noel with a very impressive winter jack

Well done once again Noel with a 48cm back up jack
Little Ari fished well and caught some nice flatties

GOLD COAST RIVERS by Clinto

The fishing has improved noticeably this week in the Gold Coast broadwater. It’s good to see the water clearing up nicely, and not overly dirty on the run out tide either.

Tailor are everywhere now
Tasty broadwater haul

There are plenty of flathead, tarpon, whiting, tailor, flounder, squire, bream, tarwhine. We have been catching plenty on Samaki vibes (Cleopatra Tiger colour is a favourite of mine), Ecogear ZX40 blades, and live yabbies. I had to cancel my charter today after I injured my shoulder. I’m hoping to be ok asap after some therapy and teaspoons of concrete today.

Arran did well to land this tarpon on lure
Edmund from Singapore and family
An exciting day
Some cool fish on lures
Lovely variety on the Gold Coast broadwater

We have full moon next Tuesday which means we will have some great fishing this weekend!

I am fully booked for the next 12 days, a few dates available the following weeks.

Great time of year to catch lots of variety of quality eating fish.

Tune in most Saturday mornings 5-6am on 94.1 FM when I chat to Paul Burt and give fishing tips on his new radio show.

Finally some cooler weather has arrived! The water temperature has dropped to 24 degrees in Nerang river and the Southern broadwater and soon we will see a big influx of flathead and flounder. There has already been lots of good size tailor getting caught which is hopefully a good sign for a great season ahead.
