GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT by Clinto

After yet another rainfall event the water is finally starting to clear again during the run in tides in the Nerang river system. Hinze dam is still spilling and it has been hard to catch fish during run out tides.
This week every day there has been lots of whiting, bream, and some flathead from Southport to Benowa, as well as grunter, flounder, and a few trevally. It looks like the tailor are starting to arrive with lots of birds diving around the seaway and Seaworld, and heaps of baitfish around.
It has been a very busy few months for me and I’ll be away on an annual holiday for the next 10 days. After that the cooler weather and wintery fishing will fire up as we look forward to a big range of tasty target species on lures and bait including squid, flathead, flounder, tuskfish, winter whiting, sand whiting, blue swimmer crabs, and tailor to name a few.
