GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT by Clinto
23 March 2025
Hi everyone, it was great to be back out fishing this week after the cyclone and floods, and the fishing has been great. It will get even better in the weeks and months to come.

In the broadwater we have been catching lots of nice size sand whiting, as well as trevally, flounder, bream, and flathead. Run in tides are best at this stage, and yabbies and beach worms are working best for bait. From April to November I use lures a lot more chasing flathead, squid, flounder, whiting and heaps more with vibes, soft plastics, and hard bodies.

New moon is next Saturday and the tide sizes jump up, we will have morning run outs. Deeper water will work on the broadwater reefs which I have been fishing for many years and produce lots of variety. Crabbing hasn’t been good but hopefully improves with the bigger tides. Water temperature has been around 26 degrees in the broadwater, the morning highs are worth a go for flathead on top of the banks. The rivers are still fairly dirty after the rain but could be worth a look during bigger run in tides.

It looks like more rain arriving later this week, I have a few days available early this week if you want to get in for a fish. I’ll throw in an extra hour, free crabbing, and gopro of your day uploaded to youtube as a bonus for the next two bookings this week.
