GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT by Clinto

Another busy week on the water and it was good to explore further out in the broadwater with favourable weather. Crab island, North currigee, South Currigee, and Runaway bay are all starting to fish well as the water cleans up further.
We caught a variety including flathead, winter whiting, sand whiting, flounder, tarwhine, bream, trevally, snapper and a few other random species like tripod fish. Nerang river is still quite dirty from the fresh water overflowing from Hinze dam, but run in tides are fishing ok for flathead, whiting, and grunter.
The fish are spread out a long way so it takes drifting or moving often to catch numbers. We now have the lead up to new moon, after a couple of days of rain and wind there should be some very good fishing in our local waterways.
Next available charter dates are 30 April then 20, 21 May.
