GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT by Clint

Another week of charters and I stuck to fishing the broadwater even when it was quite windy, as Nerang river has been fairly slow and has heaps of vermin pony fish biting.
There has been reasonable numbers of sand whiting on the chew at Southport and Crab island and a few flathead, flounder, squid, winter whiting and other randoms.
Looking ahead after Christmas day we have suitable morning low tides for pumping yabbies, then either wading the shallows or boat fishing them. If the fishing slows later in the morning it usually pays to fish a bit deeper in those four to six metre areas. If drifting with vibes and baits doesn’t work try anchoring and moving every half an hour.
