GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT by Clint

24 October 2025

It’s been another busy week of charters. The northerly winds have made it tricky to fish the Broadwater, but the Nerang River has provided enough action to keep customers smiling with steady catches. The fishing hasn’t been red hot, but most sessions have produced around 20–30 fish, which keeps things interesting.

Both live yabbies and beach worms have been doing the job nicely, with quality sand whiting, jewfish, trevally, grunter, tarwhine, and plenty of bream turning up. You can pretty much find bream anywhere throughout the Nerang River and canal systems right now.

Trolling small lures such as the Samaki Redic 40mm and 50mm has also been effective, producing a good mix of the same species. Some decent rainfall next week would really help to fire things up even more and bring the system to life.

Looking ahead, we’ve got neap tides after the new moon and some great early morning run-ins, perfect for targeting big sand whiting and flathead on the Broadwater flats.

My next available charter dates are 3, 17, and 18 November — with only seven dates still open for the month, so get in quick if you’d like to book a trip.
