THIS WEEK’S GOLD COAST AND TWEED ESTUARY FISHING REPORT AND NEWS

26 March 2021

Dad joke:

I went skydiving today for the first time. This guy strapped himself to me, we jumped out of the Plane and as we plummeted , he said:

“So , how long have you been an Instructor?”

TWEED RIVER by Smithy

Nothing to report yet, the Tweed is very dirty and charters have been postponed.

The full moon tides will start to push more salt back up the system over the coming week.

Brad will likely fish the Gold Coast this week until Tweed clears enough.

To book a private charter with Brad call him on 0419 028 704 around 4-6pm daily.

Autumn and winter will be very good and always books out weeks ahead with regular customers.

GOLD COAST RIVERS by Clinto

Our local river catchments got some of the biggest rain of these floods. It will be too muddy to fish up the rivers at this stage.

Around the seaway will be the place to be and on the run in tide. The tides are getting bigger with lead up to full moon which means you’ll need to focus your efforts an hour each side of high tide.

At other times try along the edges of the main channel from the spit to marina mirage in that 4-6 metre range, and on all the yabby banks from Wavebreak to Southport. Yabbies will work well as bait, and flashy and dark coloured vibes.

The run out tide does produce water that is too fresh and dirty. Water is still overflowing from Hinze dam.

Smithy’s new boat

Brad came for a run on the boat today, we had a quick look and dropped vibes for a few whiting. The picture above is of a superyacht recently arrived for a visit. Lady Christine is worth about $80 million, and is owned by billionaire Lord Irvine Laidlaw.

Lady Christine

I had a number of jack charters booked to finish the season, but these have all been cancelled because of the floods. My attention will now turn to fishing, squidding, and crabbing the broadwater.
