GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT

There have been some quality catches of sand whiting around Southport and Bundall, with plenty of solid fish coming over the side. Fresh pumped yabbies canal wriggler worms, and beach worms have been doing the damage in that shallow one to two metre zone, especially on the making tide. The better fish are really responding to a natural presentation and light six to eight pound fluorocarbon leaders. As always drop in to Sporty’s warehouse at Bundall to get all the best tackle and advice!

Flathead numbers have also been on after the rain, sitting along the drop offs and drains. The cooler mornings and dirtier water are definitely helping them fire up.

Out in the Broadwater we have been picking up winter whiting and flounder using Ecogear ZX40 vibes hopped slowly across the sand patches. Let them hit the bottom, small lift, pause, and they are crunching it on the drop. Great fun on light spin gear.

We are now in the lead up to the full moon which traditionally fires things up. Expect stronger tidal flow, more bait movement and aggressive feeding windows. Add to that the rain forecast over the next few days and it should really enhance the system with another good flush. That combination of rain and building moon phase is a prime recipe for quality sessions.

The coming week is shaping up nicely once the weather settles. The fish will be chewing.
