28 February 2025 fishing report 🎣

THIS WEEK’S GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT

28 February 2025

Hopefully Cyclone Alfy stays clear of the Queensland coast this weekend. This week we had mostly nice sunny weather and fresh South Easterly wind. The water is getting very clear after the big run in tides, water temp is ranging from 26 to 29 degrees.

The summer whiting have been biting hard in Nerang river with catches of 20 to 30 fish per day on beach worms. The bigger tides have got them moving over large areas so it pays to keep moving often to find the schools with drifting working best.

Next week looks windy until at least mid week as the cyclone moves past. The South East wind direction is ideal for fishing up Nerang river still, especially with the run in tides, anchoring with worms, and trolling with Samaki Redic 50 df lures. Another great option is walking the Northern ends of the broadwater flats and casting lures and yabbies with the wind at your back. Some good lure options for flathead are My Lure Box soft glides, Mmd hardiheads, Holt prawns and Fishcraft prawns. Drop into Sporty’s at Strathaird rd, Bundall for all the best tackle and lures that I love using.
