THIS WEEK’S GOLD COAST AND TWEED ESTUARY FISHING REPORT AND NEWS

30 July 2021

*Brad fishes Gold Coast and Logan while border closed

*Big arrow squid at the broadwater

Dad joke:

I tried to smuggle a wild animal out of Australia…

…but it Dingo as planned.

TWEED RIVER by Smithy

No Tweed charters this week due to the border closure.

Brad caught flathead and bream at Nerang river, and explored Logan river catching jewfish, flathead, bream, moses perch.

This could be an exciting new option for our charters in the near future.

GOLD COAST RIVERS by Clinto

The fishing was quite tough this week but we caught some nice big arrow squid.

They have been more active in the mornings then heading deeper and harder to catch as the days go on.

Ecogear ZX40 lures have been catching as many squid as the jigs.

North of wavebreak to Sovereign island the snot weed has been very annoying, making it hard to fish with lures.

Otherwise the odd flathead, mackerel, tailor, whiting, flounder, and bream have been around.

Next week is lead up to new moon, which should see bigger catches of squid and fish. So often a slow week is followed by a better one.

Every Saturday morning between 5-6am I chat with Paul Burt on his 94.1 FM radio fishing show. Tomorrow we talk about blue swimmer crabs.
