30 October 2020 fishing report & news

30 October 2020

*Much needed rain arrived

*Whiting on the bite still

Dad joke:

I tried writing a book on fish.

I probably should have used paper instead.

G’day everyone it has been a wild week of weather with most afternoons finishing with some wild thunder storms and some much needed rain.

The surface fishing action was once again dynamic with the whiting, bream and odd good flattie keen to rise off the bottom to inhale the mmd splash prawns.

John was stoked to catch his first flattie on a surface lure

When the water is a bit discoloured as it is at present after the rain I like to use a darker coloured surface lure like the cooked prawn colour for example.

Apart from the surface fishing we have done some trolling with slam lures and a bit of drift jigging with the Samaki vibelicous lures for once again some flatties, bream and whiting.

The whiting are still going crazy on surface lures

Nice to see some rainfall with totals around 100mm this week near the Broadwater.

The mornings have been nice weather for fishing with storms developing during the afternoons, it would be great if this trend continues over the spring and summer months.

I have been fishing the shallows once again, you have to work the tides right to get the fish and crabs but there is some quality around. They have been feeding on the lead up to full moon on Sunday.

The water temp at Capri today was 26.6 which will see jacks and whiting in an aggressive mood. There has also been big bream, school flathead, solid luderick, tarwhine biting around Wavebreak island and the banks North and South.

Next week we still have some ideal tides for targeting the above species on live bait and lures.

Best fishing days this week according to the almanac:

Friday: 84

Saturday: 95

Sunday: 94

Monday: 85

Tuesday: 65

Wednesday: 34

Thursday: 14

Friday: 13

*This is just a prediction. There are many factors when it comes to fishing and fish are unpredictable at times, there are no exact guarantees. We include this just for fun and see how it plays out every week.

Charter options this coming week:
