G’day everyone a few light showers of rain and a bit of wind did not stop us from catching a heap of fish this week. The combination of some big tides matched with the barometric pressure being well above 1020 sent them crazy.
As always we had to find areas that were holding a heap of baitfish holding close to bottom to sustain the large number of flathead. We mixed up the techniques a bit from deep water jigging to trolling and all worked really well with a mixture of vibes and Slam and pontoon 21 minnows.

I just got back from a family holiday in Queenstown, NZ. Our first proper holiday in fours years. What a stunning part of the world that is, wow!
I have only a few dates still available this month for Gold Coast broadwater charters, only 22, 23, 28, 29 August. Then September onwards right through until May next year is always busy.
This coming week I’ll be chasing flathead, squid, whiting, flounder, tailor and others.
This is the start of snot weed season but it’s something we have to put up with, and the fish don’t mind it.
I visited AFTA today and was impressed by the wide range of hot new products. My picks were Fish Craft Dr Prawns and Dr Flex lures, new model Zing and Skitch rods from Samaki, Samaki Vortex metal lures, Tackle Tactics Switchprawn blade vibes and Quake soft vibes, and Rapala Crush City soft plastics.
The public day is on tomorrow 5 August at the Gold Coast convention centre, have a good look at these lures for yourself and keep an eye out in coming months when they hit the shelves!
