GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT by Clinto

After the latest rain the rivers and broadwater turned brown again, but they are now starting to clear towards the top of the tides.
Finding cleaner water and deeper has been the way to go. There has been more flathead appearing as well as tailor, trevally, flounder, and lots of sand whiting. We even caught a couple of Northern whiting which are usually only ever found North of Hervey bay.
Hopefully this was the last big rain for a while and the waterways get a chance to clear and provide some great fishing over the coming weeks and months. I have noticed heaps of bait balls on the fish finder which is a great sign.
There has been tailor and flathead chasing the bait along the Southern end of South Stradbroke island this week. Squid will soon start moving in to the broadwater to feed and breed.
A busy few weeks ahead, I’ll fully booked every day from now until 23 April.
