GOLD COAST ESTUARY FISHING REPORT by Clinto
8 December 2024
Hinze dam is at 104% capacity and overflowing. Nerang river is still a brown colour on run out tides, slightly cleaner on last of run in.
There is however some fish under the muddy surface and we have been catching sand whiting and bream on beach worms and yabbies. There has been some sand crabs too, and the beaches are fishing well for whiting and bream.
The broadwater around the seaway is clearing during run in tides, all that rain has cooled the estuary water which the flathead like. Charters are getting very busy as always this time of year, my next available date is 9 January. Options include chasing big whiting and mulloway, trevally, grunter, bream up river on bait and lures, and whiting, flathead and more in the broadwater.
The king tides this coming week leading up to full moon next Sunday will flush out the rivers resulting in good fishing for a variety of species.
